Burlington Waterfront Promenade Bandshell

Mills + Schnoering Architects was engaged by the City of Burlington, NJ to design a new bandshell along the Delaware River waterfront to accommodate live performances including concerts, movie screenings, and community events. The bandshell is a small but key element of Burlington’s visionfor water front revitalization that will serve the community and attract visitors to the area for a variety of programs andevents.

The designis intended to suggest the silhouette of a boat shed and reflects the nautical and industrial heritage of Burlington City; simple details and resilient, low-maintenance materials are inspired by structures within Burlington’s Historic District. Full accessibility and acoustical performance are key to the design, which features splayed side walls, hard surfaces, and a curved, pitched roof that passively projects sound into the audience.
